I have worn New Balance athletic shoes for as long as I can remember. Last week I was visiting the New Balance web site and discovered, much to my amazement, that New Balance is the only athletic shoe that is still manufactured in the United States.
At a time when American industry is outsourcing our jobs to China and India as fast as they can, I felt obligated to give a plug to a company that places American workers over profits. While other scumbag companies employ overseas workers at near slave wages, we have a company here who makes a great product and employs Americans to make that product.
I am not affiliated with New Balance in any way, except for the fact that we are both Americans.

I wear them too, having searched long and hard for running shoes that were NOT made in a sweat-shop.
ReplyDeleteAmusingly enough, despite being at least as good if not better than their sweatshop counterparts, they are CHEAPER. The reason being, they don't have the brand recognition. So you can have a decent shoe made in decent conditions at a decent price, or you can have a sweatshop imported shoe of lower quality for a higher price. Depends how important the logo is to you.
